Blitz, I said International 400 or International 450. Actually they were further defined as International W 400 Diesel or International W 450 Diesel There should be a serial number plate on the clutch housing of your tractor. This will tell if you have a IW-400 D or IW-450 D. You can also determine the year from the serial number. If this plate is missing, look for the engine serial number located on a flat spot near the front of the engine. If the block is original, the engine serial number will be near to the tractor serial number but not necessarily the same. You can tell which tractor it is by this engine number which will be a 264 if it is a 400 or a 281 if it is a 450. Both blocks look the same but the 450 has bigger pistons & sleeeve bore for the additional 17 cubic inch displacement. You can also determine the approximate year of your tractor by looking at casting numbers. The IW-400 was only built 55 & 56 and the IW 450 was built 56, 57, & 58. IW-400 serial numbers start; 55 510, 56 2187W. IW-450 serial numbers start; 56 501, 57 568, 58 1661. Casting codes are; 55 A, 56 B, 57 C, 58 D. Hope this information helps. Harold H
