Farmall 140---12V or 6V..?

Hi again.
I need some help from you knowledgible folks out there. I was under the assumption that my Farmall 140 that I bought as a basket case was 12V. From a posting I saw from Darman J, he seems to think they are originally 6V. I don't know because mine didn't have the batery in it, and there is no positive battery cable...it just looks like the wiring is a diaster. A friend of mine has one, and walked out and put a volt meter on it, and it read 12V, so that's why I assumed they are 12V. I am still waiting for a manual. Please let me know.
