MG: I know the 560 and 656 are the same with one minor difference. The center steering control arm on the 656 is longer, and this allows tractor to turn shorter. I think you will find the same with all 06 and 56 series tractors, that center steering control arm is longer than 560. This is why 560 always seems like a locomotive when driving one.

I could never understand why IH didn't do this sooner. I guess they wanted to be sure power steering would handle it. The longer steering arm will reduce the mechanical advantage. I know few guys who have cut the center steering arm and added 1" to length on C, SC, 200 and 230. Makes a big difference on manuverability, and with little effect on steering effort. The bigger tractors would probably be more noticeable on steering. Before I did this with a 560 front going to a 706, I would check the actual length, of another 06 or 56 series tractor.
