I would agree with CNKS. Fixing it once the correct way will save you money and headaches down the road. Some of these ideas may work if you are out in the middle of the field and need a quick temporary fix. It always amazes me with people that will spend thousands of dollars on something and then want to try and save a couple of bucks by going the 'cheap' way. I have found out in life you only get what you pay for. Most of the time it turns out to be cheaper doing right the first time. Just my $0.02 (US) worth.
