After you buy it, try starting it on vapor only. Doing this will help in telling what is wrong with it. If it is flooding with liquid it won't start but if you only use vapor you will be keeping it from having to deal with the expansion of the liquid. Most important thing to remember with the LP is the ignition ratio range is very narrow, 12 - 14% fuel to air. I have several old ensign and century books that may help you. My Dad had a 46M that had an engine super kit and was converted to propane. He did it in 1951 and never touched the engine again till he got rid of it in the 70's. It was our main tractor for several years and had lots of hours on it. In 1965 it outpulled every tractor in it's class at a county fair tractor pull, including a new Ford 6000. He drove it, I drove our 460 LP Farmall and he beat it also. To make it more interesting, this M was rusted, with the LP tank with the steering wheel shaft going thru it, the tank was never painted so it was in decaying primer (I still have the tank) Had an aftermarket wide front end with cheap fading paint, and the two rear tires were different brands/treadpatterns. Had to crank it, didn't have a starter,(died) ran on Magneto. Two quarter pulls and it was running!! He was a smart man. He loved to watch all the other tractors bring the front wheels off the ground when they were pulling. His never did. He told me several times if he can't beat a tractor with it's front end in the air He'd go home. I remember a 3020 that did once by 1/2 a tractor length but we still stayed for supper!! I degress but told all that to let you know there is NOTHING wrong with an M on LP. If I may be of help, let me know.
