Brad: You already have a considerable investment, so to have the job done right, boil the block. I just overhauled one of my 856's(d-407) and had the shop boil the block and the head. The shop includes checking for cracks in the price of hot tanking, so that is one less thing to worry about. I also have them remove cam bearings and intall new ones. I know it adds to the price but this tractor has paid its way(7000hrs), and I expect to get that many more out of it.
