On my 450LP, I open the vapor valve (mine's on the right looking forward from the seat), turn on the ignition switch, throttle lever all the way up (closed), hit the starter button until it starts. I run mine on vapor all the time as I seldom work it hard. When shutting down, turn off the fuel valves at the tank and let the engine run until it dies. After it dies, BE SURE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION or you'll run the battery down. Hope the painting process goes smoothly.
