IH never installed the electric control on the 86 series, but they did make a kit available if customer wanted it. I believe they still used the ta lever to operate a electrical switch, or you could just put in a toggle switch. I did install the electric controlled transmission brake on a 1086, advantage was that you hooked it in conjunction with clutch pedal and range trans lever so brake does not apply when tractor is in gear, making it easier to shift out of gear, and it did stop the gears readily. M &W had what they called tender foot attachment that applies both ta clutch packs on depression of clutch, IH strongly disapproved of this as you basically were locking trans solid when depressing clutch to floor and if tractor was rolling it put lots of strain on things, that being said, one of my customers has one for 20 years now with no problem but he knows how to operate it.
