3 pt not holding

Ok, I've been trying to find out what all I need inorder to fix my draft control. The handle is busted off under the shield. Anyhow that isn't my current problem. Ever since I took the shield off the 3pt lever wants to snap back to the down position. Before I could set it anywhere and it would stay, even with a round bale on behind. Oh, it's a Farmall 504 row crop. Thanks!
