For the sake of 4 nuts and a hose clamp, in the past I have just always removed the intake manifold to avoid breaking plugs. Also when i remove the carb for cleaning I always pull the manifold, carb nuts are immpossible to get at too. Not very bright ideas at ih in a time when tractors were suppossed to be almost totally operator serviceable, could you imagine trying to get to work in the fields in the late 40's, early 50's and break a spark plug or two trying to get them out to clean them??? might be a half day trip just to get to town. Bet there has been alot of cussing over the years. not many deep or swivel sockets back then.
