Can't beat your distance, just thought I'd relate a "somewhat" similar experience. Lost a whole trailer once. Was towing the latemodel stock car home in a rainstorm at 3AM about two years ago and was running on some freshly laid asphalt(they were laying it that same day on my trip to the races). Anyway, the trailer hydroplaned and the whole outfit started fishtailing and it put me in the ditch. Luck(probably stronger forces than luck as well) was with me and I didn't roll the pickup, but when I got stopped and got out to look things over the trailer was gone. It had come loose from the ball, dug into the soft sand on the shoulder of the new road and flipped. Bent the trailer axles pretty good. Just body damage to the racecar(they're designed to roll over, but not necessarily with a trailer strapped to the bottom of them). Good thing it was the last race of the season! And I'll be forever thankfull that the trailer DID come unattached from the pickup.
