Richard, Things like this can be very frustrating. Speaking of myself, many times I have made the same mistake 3 or 4 times in trying to figure a problem like this out. Maybe you need to call a mechanically inclined buddy over and the 2 of you go through it.Just talk it over and somewhere along the line you'll figure it out. The engines on these old machines are pretty simple and you are just overlooking something. I once was working on a car engine that whipped me for days and finally discovered that the new set of spark plugs as well as the ones I took out weren't much good.In desperation I put a set of old plugs from another engine in and that solved my problem. Good luck ! Let us know what the problem is when you find it.
