Carter and Grunewald crossed that later number to a 37634DA, which they had. This PD-40 is serial #701, a 1933 unit with a vertical injector head. Probably the 200th one made. Bought it from Lenny Ohnmeiss at the Red Power show in PA last summer. It's been a fun project. I didn't see any kind of groove or anything in the upper radiator elbow either, does the gasket just hold the thermostat in place?
