Most people consider the 310 German motor the better of the two, however both are good engines but the 282 has glow plugs and if everything isn't working right can be hard to start. I have a 282 in a 560 and even on a 100 degree day you have to use the glow plugs, just the way they are. I think the 310 also has a few more hp. Brian
