They used to tell a story about an old mechanic around here went out on a binder call it was not tying. He walked up to the binder and saw the problem at once turned to the farmer and said I need a brace and a 1/2 inch bit, so the farmer went and got one for him. Of course while the farmer was gone the mechanic fixed the knotter then took the brace and bit drilled a hole through the tongue, the binder worked fine when they tried it.
