These 6 cylinder germen engines are hard to Fire up if you don't use the primer on the fuel pump when turnimg it over cold. Shut the trouttle right down to low idle and pull the shutoff cable 3/4 of the way out till it just touches the little spring loaded plunger on side of the injection pump. Then start cranking it over, As soon as she fires let go of the shut off cable and give her a little trouttle. This works evertime on our 756 or 826 that have german diesels in them. If you look at a model 574 thru 684 with 4 cylinder germans diesels they use the same setup only its clearly marked out on there diesel shutoff control. I know since we also have a IH 684. Good luck and have a Great Christmas and New Years, Chris
