Your concern of the oil pressure dropping after warm-up may merit further investigation, if you're thinking of purchasing the tractor. First point - most diesel engines pressure will drop after warm-up. If the guage drops below 1/4 of the entire scale at 750 rpm, your engine is not freshly rebuilt. Second point - some of these engines whose pressure is negligable (<10psi) while hot still may have alot of life left in them. Since it's usually the main and cam bearings that open up to decrease oil pressure, If it were mine I would run it until something breaks (spins a bearing or worse) because either way the repair bill will be high. If you are buying and concerned check out the engine with a real oil pressure guage, and if worn, factor in the price of a long block to the offer(amortized to projected hours left). You can price one out at www.batescorp.com. BTW check for blow-by (alot of smoke or out the breather)as another indication of wear. Of course nothing beats a compression test.
