Interesting that you would bring this up. I have said many times that if I had a choice between being well educated with no common sense and average education with common sense, I would chose the later. A good example is my former neighbor that has a doctors degree and taught as a professor in the local college. For whatever reason, he decided to start his own remodeling business because that is what he enjoys doing. He has been at this now for about a year. He has fallen off a ladder and broke both wrists. He has shot an air nailer through 3 fingers and usually has a bandaid on his head somewhere. I don't even want to be around a person like that! The only thing that is saving him is his wife still works, and provides the insurance for his injuries. I used to work with a graduate engineer. He had a problem with gambling and thought nothing about maxing out his credit cards so he would have money to gamble with. One time he didn't have enough money to get home from Vegas. Thats my take on common sense.
