Kelly: Happy to see you so far along on your tractor. I've got an H and an M I would love to go over but I havn't the time or the money, and we use them too often to really let them sit idle for so long. As for the gears, My opinion is the gears in the picture tell me that this is a "tired" tranny, and I've torn quite a few down that look like that. I definately would change any that show that much wear! This should do wonders for you shifting ability when you have the beast back together. As for the 4/5th gear, I asumme you are talking about the internal teeth which mesh with your T.A. output shaft. First check your T.A. output shaft and make sure it is not worn. Eve though it is rebuilt I myself have rebuilt a few which had more wear than I would have liked, but sometimes you lose track of what is ideal. The output shaft teeth should have a nice, uniform U-shape to them. Exessive wear starts to look like a flat side to the U. As far as the 4/5th gear use your gut and the condition of the rest of the tranny gears to tell you what you should do. Just by looking at you picture, those gears tell me that, unless the 4/5th gear has been changed previuosly, then it is due.
