Your impulse pawls may be sticking. The last mag I had apart was all gummed-up inside. It took some scrubbing and a lot of WD-40 to free everything up. You need to use light oil for your mag. 10 weight oil is a bit too thick. Be careful not to over-oil the oil hole by the spark advance cover. This can lead to intermittent ignition failure because it can short out the points carriage to the mag housing.
