Alot of good things said here. FFA is a Nation wide organization that is mainly geared up for high school kids. Used to stand for Future Farmers of America, but as said already, I think they dropped the wording and just go by FFA. The Ag industry has gotten so broad and wide, and the number of farmers keeps going down due to bigger operations and corporate farming, that I believe that the organization has opened its arms to anybody remotely close to ag related interests and not just farm kids. I was in the FFA in the early 90's, and I could see non-farming kids at that time showing interests in the FFA just in our local chapter. Maybe it was originally designed for farm kids, but has kind of headed toward the ag industry direction involving young people with those interests. As a rule of thumb, the organization is probably more popular in rural areas.
