The roller was introduced to catch old farmers who were in the habit of successfully stepping on the un-pinned, strap-mounted, swinging drawbar enroute to the tractor seat. The roller proved that they weren't as agile as they thought they were and gave them groin pulls to deal with. That's the way dad explained it to me. Dick Davis
