It's pretty easy to switch to a C-263, C-291, or C-301 gas. If you get the replacment engine from another tractor, all you need is a 560 front cover and rear plate. Those parts off of your 282 might work. If you get the engine from a combine, you also have to do something about the oil filter base, since the combine base doesn't clear the steering shaft. It would be extremely hard to convert the D-282 to gas, since the gas engines have a different head bolt pattern, and have 15 head bolts instead of 14 like the diesel.
