Voltage regulators

I thought it was posted here somewhere but I can't find it. Is there a way to tell a 6 volt regulator from a twelve volt reg if they are in your hand and off the tractor. Bought a new one at a yardsale, International box and all but there's not a clue to be found on the case anywhere. Thanks for any help. Dick in Vermont.
