I have to agree. That is simply an ignorant statement. 300,000 M's sold with a huge number still serving in some capacity speaks for itself. I own and farm with one myself. Thanks for the clarification....I enjoy ribbing the JD guys at the auctions and shows. You do have to watch your step, though. I once dickered long and hard with a guy to buy an old JD #5 mower to cut hay with. Finally settled on $30. I paid the man, told him what a great mower it was and then commented on how great it was gonna look painted red. For half a minute I thought he and his buddies were gonna lynch me, but it turned out to be a good joke on both sides.
