To fix, the pump will have to be dissassembled and seals replace. May need other work too. Probably best to have the pump rebuilt professionally, although that is expensive. As to damage, the diesel will not give as good a lubrication as the oil, so you will get more wear. If you aren't using the tractor much, if you drain an refill with oil fairly often, it will likely last a long time. Need to watch the crankcase oil level also to make sure that diesel is not leaking into it. It only takes a cup of oil to refill the injection pump, just up to the level of the petcock. My fill port is on the rear of the pump. Seems strange your fill port is on the front of the pump, as my manual shows the fill on the rear for both the IH and the Bosch pumps.
