I would suspect you have a part missing from your mower. It should have a rod across the mounting brackets with a curved open end slot on each end and a place to hook a long open end wrench (suppose to use what we always called the plow wrench which came with the tractor) you back up to the mower ready to mount using the wrench pull up and slots move over the top studs and pull the mower right on, with a ratchet and socket should be able to remove draw bar and mount mower in 20 min.
