Overpayment scam warning

This subject has come up a lot recently, so if you dont read every post and see the responses, here is the information. You advertise a large item for sale, on the internet, in any place that allows that, (ebay, tractor forum, antique car forum, etc) and you are contacted by someone who wants to buy the item (usually from nigeria, but also from europe) and they have a client who owes them money and will send the check to you, but it is for several thousand more than what you are selling. They instruct you to wire the balance to them. A week later, you find the check is a forgery, and you are out the balance. I had a harley for sale on ebay, and the offer was to send a check for 69,000 to me for a 12,000 bike. I dont have that kind of money to throw away, and would have been paying back the bank forever, if they did not take my house. PLease ignore all such offers. Remember what your mother told you.
