Red: Having bought a new 1066 in 1975 with cab air and duals, I can quite agree with all the advise you have received. My tractor always dynoed at 160+ hp, but then whats new, most IH tractors exceeded their ratings. The down side of a 1066 is fuel consumption, quite good when tractor loaded to the limit. On light work they are terrible. As I see it 10 gallons per hour not bad on a forage harvester built to handle 200 hp or a 25 foot cultivator, but 6 gallons per hour baling hay a bit much. My 560D or 656D would bale hay faster on 1.25 to 1.5 gallons per hour, faster as they were a bit more agile. I had 5 other smaller tractors so 1066 was never started unless the job required 100+ hp. The 56 series tractors were much better on the fuel consumption, especially on the lighter work.
