We have had an incredible amount of snow in the last four days, schools have been closed for two days, but I didn't realize how much snow until today at the farm. The cattle hadn'r been outside for close to two weeks because of the extreme cold and stormy weather. I let them out today and it was a riot to watch, when they got out into the field there is over 30 inches of snow on the flat, the calves looked like beavers swimming , all you could see was their heads and parts of their backs, the cows were up past thier briskets, they seemed to enjoy the outing but they headed back to the warm barn in short order. I guess the snow is good for the winter crops and the water table, I would never have guessed how much we had until I wandered out into the field to watch the calves, they looked like little polar bears when they came back in, caked white with snow, one of the asthetic pleasures of farming...Mike in Exeter Ontario
