It's not too big of a job. The hardest part for me was breaking the dog loose that drives the shaft. If you click on the "Parts and Pieces" link in the gallery section, I just posted a before and after shot of the seal.

Start by removing the two large cotter pins on either end of the shaft, and slide the two ends toward the middle. You should now have the shaft in your hands.

It may look like you can replace the seal now, but you can't. The dog with the slot in it that drives the shaft hast to be removed first.

Find a piece of square steel stock that will fit snuggly in the slot on the countershaft dog.

(SAFETY NOTE - Disconnect the battery and block the wheels)

Put the tractor in gear to hold the dog from turning, place the square stock in the slot and unscrew the dog. (It has normal right hand threads) You will probably need a hammer to get it started as it tighens up with use and takes some effort to loosen it. (Note, when you replace it, just hand tighten it. It will continue to tighen on it's own.)

Now you can replace the seal.
