Hi, yes that is the hot water exit. I believe you can leave both exhaust and water manifolds on.
I can't remember, is the water pump attached to the head or the block ? Will the water pump stay with the head and you don't have to disconnect that rad type hose from the water manifold ?
The other way is to loosen the head off and then slide it towards battery box to remove that rad hose.

Just out of interest, how many hours on your 484 and what problems is it having that you require replacing sleeves/pistons ?

My brother has a 454D with same engine with well over 10,000 hrs and no problems other than a couple of water pumps and cup seals on input shaft to injector pump.
