Dad always had me use grease on the moldboards, but then we were plowing black dirt, which doesn't "scour" as easily as sand. But grease it down in the fall, then drop that plow in the ground next year and within a few feet they were as bright and shinny as ever. But, since you have sandy soil, that should scour regardless what you use to protect the boards with.
