A carb that looks right and fits right might not necessarily be the right one. A week ago I got a carb that was supposed to be the right one for a B Farmall. I put it on the B and all the tractor did was chug and smoke. Took it off and found the load jet was a #27 where the original one was a # 18. Put the 18 from the old carb into the 'new' carb and the tractor ran smooth but kind of acted lean at high idle, so I got a kit for the original carb and rebuilt it like I should have done in the first place. Maybe the replacement carb was set up for a fuel tractor instead of gas.
