I've only seen a 786 pull once, lots of weight there for the power. If you can change engines and want to pull lighter classes I'd go with an 06 or 56, use a dt360 or dt414 motor. I think later 786 came with the d360, may need a manifold change for a turbo, don't know for sure. One trick to the 756 is that they ran the d310, I think the only real difference between it and the d358 is the crank, if you are in a class that won't allow an engine change, the oil pans interchange. With a 966 the bigger motor is there just need to stick a turbo on it, and it'll also still weigh less than the 786. I don't know if you've got an open or ROPS tractor, I'm assuming its a ROPS. It also depends on how stock it has to stay or how stock it has to look.
