When welding cast iron, make sure it's heated as much as possible without splattering it. This helps when laying a bead with the ni-rod. I've actually used a flux-core welding wire (for mild steel) on a Ford Bronco exhaust manifold and it's still good. Personally, I would make sure the carburetor and fuel line is removed if doing this on the tractor. But maybe you're a little more adventurous! :)
