Here is a website link to some welding rod that I have used successfully several times...www.muggyweld.com They sell a product made especially for welding Cast Iron. I have used this on about 6 different cast pieces with a 100% success rate. The key to welding on cast is to only weld about 1" at a time, and then taking an air hammer and hammering the weld that you just made to remove the stress from it. Also might suggest drilling a small hole at the ends of the crack to prevent any further spreading. The muggy welding rod is supposed to be extra resillient to stress from heat, and it works really well...I even used it to weld a 2 foot long crack on a boat block that was vertical! Anyway, good luck with your project, Jared Jeffries
