The 8638DA and 6832DA are casting numbers. 1941 serial numbers start at 41,500, but that also includes A's. Your tractor may have been built late in 1940 since the model years generally started November 1. For decal placement I reccomend Guy Fay's Letter Series Originality Guide, available at www.motorbooks .com or Amazon
