Bronco: I agree with Paul Fox.. In the 50's I would replace gears in standard auto trannys with used gears from my uncles junkyard and the biggest problem was proper shimming\alignmant etc and not if the gears had pitting\rust.. I missed one little shim once and I had several hours of remove and replace because of that missing shim but never because of some pitting\rust.. Take a look at a manual for proper installation as that can also make a diff in amount of noise\whine..best of luck..harvey
