Paul: I don't know whether you have read this in some of my other posts or not so here goes; When I was a teenager my dad plowed snow with then new Farmall 300, ring chains, and a 7' angle front blade that would raise about 6' off ground. In the nearby village about 100 homes, stores, post office. bank, churches, etc. Three guys kept that village plowed out excepting the streets and roads. The tractors were Super A and Super C both with factory front blades and a MF 35 with a loader and snow bucket. We would go to the feed store and were always amazed, the guy with the Super A was doing half of the plowing in the village. I remember coming home from village with dad first winter we had the 130. We drove past where the guy was plowing a driveway with Super A. My dad's comment,"I think we have out snow blade on the wrong tractor." 14 years ago I finally put a fabricated 6' angle front blade on 130. Right now I have snow piled 4 to 5 feet deep both sides of my driveway about 350' to the road. The guy with the big snowblower did help short term. He also put a 3" layer of ice on my driveway. This morning I was down to 9 feet in width. Today pushing old frozen snow back I have now this evening back to 12 feet wide on bottom. I have regular chains and one set of wheel weights. I do wish I had a blade on my fast hitch that would protrude out about 4 feet to one side of tractor, that I could use much like a wing. Don't even think rear blade as prime source of plowing, your neck is just as old as mine.

Oh and about back in my home town, today there is about 200 homes, few more commercial buildings, and at last count 12- 4x4 pickups, 3- skid loaders, 2- 4x4 tractors with loaders and one payloader. They are no faster that the guys 45 years ago. But then the guys back then didn't have coffee shops to sit in and talk about what they didn't have done.

It may have been built by IH as a cultivator tractor but they are one mean little snow plowing machine. If you or the missus aren't convinced, just plunk your little backsides in your automobile, and drive to Strathroy. I guarentee a cure for the unconvinced.
