I have done this repair on several tractors, and it will not cause a problem, as the bearing is still supported inside the trans casing. You can even change the bearing for the pump drive and not encounter any problems. I take it that you are doing the repairs without splitting the tractor? if so, have fun.. I used to do it that way before I got a set of splitting stands..
