Steve: Most of the Farmalls with 5 speed and TA were very close to being the same speed in the various gears. I think there were a few options between 2nd and 3rd and also 1st in the 560. I had a 300, 560 and a 656, and the 560 was noticably slower in 1st and 2 gear than the 300 and 656. I have a listing here for the 544 and it calls 1st 2.5 mph, 2nd 4 mph, 3rd 5 mph, 4th 7 mph and 5th 18 mph in direct drive and TA 1.75, 2.75, 3.25, 4.75 and 12.25 respectively. While I never did the kind of work your planning with a Farmall, I could see they would be a bit fast. If I were you I'd check out to see for sure if indeed there was such an option as slower lower gears for the 560. 560 gears should be interchangable with MTA. There was also a discussion on this forum some time ago on this very matter. I read it, but was not involved. I do remember enough to say check it out.
