Truth being they love the guys who show up looking for specific items and never dry up about them. They then know exactly who to run up.

I was at an auction few years back, I never go to auctions looking for specific items, just good solid bargains. Anyhow the auctioneer was calling for bid on a ten foot Gandy fertilizer spreader. I had walked buy it a couple of times, glanced at it, that is all. People were crouded around, I couldn't even see it. He started looking for $200., I did remember it had one flat tire. He started going down looking for a starting bid, went to a $100. in $25. drops, then he proceeded with $10. drops. At $60. I waved my hand, just as he took my bid someone yelled it's all seized up. With that he called a few more times, no bids, then sold. At the end of the auction I paid the man loaded it on my trailer and home. I was late so just left it on trailer overnight. Next morning I discovered the only thing seized was pivot of lever on tongue. In fact the whole machine was like new, agitators were free, slides on bottom were free. Looked to me like a part timer had bought this new, spread 3 ton of fertilizer and retired.

I used the spreader for about 8 years and sold it for $300. My friend bargains are the ones that happen to you, not the ones you look for.
