I had this problem with my C a couple of years ago. Part of my problem was the carb was not set right and it would flood itself. Sometimes it would actually leak gas out of the carb. The other thing I changed about that time was my battery cables. I put on heavy gauge cables just like Hugh MacKay recommended. I also made sure that I had a good ground connection. That made my 6v C spin over just about as fast as my 12v C. Best thing that I ever did to it.
