I was digging through Guy Fay's great book on letter series tractors. In Appendix B, the decal part numbers are listed. Unfortunately, the M series tractor information is not listed. So, trying to piece-part the information from several places, I came upon part number 1000710R3 for the "International" hood decal for 1952. This decal seems to have been used for many tractors that were sold for industrial purposes: M's, H's and so on. So, I thought I was good to go, if I could find 1000710R3. Then, I caught a notation on the I-4 tractor for a different part number for the decal in those cases where the tractor was not painted IH Red. (From a previous post, you may glean that I am considering industrial yellow for my 1951 M.) I did not see this notation on other tractors that used the 1000710R3 decal. Now, I'm wondering: what was the difference between the two decals? Anyone know? Mr. Fay, are you out there? [By the way, I do not mean to slight your co-author on the Letter Series Farmall book. I just cannot remember his name. My sincere apologies.]
