i rewired our 656 gas after an overhaul this fall. i did it all by scratch. if you cut open the old harnesses, and study the schematics in the operators manual, you can get a pretty good idea of what goes where. also if you want you can simplify things some. i decided to keep it mostly stock although a couple wires could be eliminated if you want. unfortunately, buying the parts aftermarket, you cannot find connectors like the original, and the wire colors are impossible to match without special ordering. now that i work in an autoparts store, i learned a few things...the old conncectors can be reused, but new terminals should be put in them. they are the same as the GM 56 series. otherwise you have to make do with 4 and 6 pole trailer type pig tail conncetors for everything, and they only come in about 14 guage wire. for the charging system i would definitely go with larger wire sizes, along with the lights. and clean your ground points, add some ground points as well. -karl
