Run from anybody who would give you a $ price for a tractor repair. There is no way he can quote you a price and fix it at a reasonable cost to you. He will have to figure every possible thing that can be wrong with it. When I worked for a Ford dealer a Fordson Major Diesel came in from a commercial user and they wanted a quote for replacing the rear end. We assumed that the ring gear and pinion were out and figured everything. When we got in to it we found that the rivets holding rhe ring gear were sheared. The rivets were replaced with bolts as the manufacturer reccomended and we were finished in a half day and parts cost was minimal. Moral of the story no HONEST repairman will quote you a price unless you drive him into a corner and then he has to cover himself.
