I agree with Paul you have to find someone or several folk with the gumption to get butt kickin serious with that person who set it up. You will have to dog em, and track em and lean on em til you get the information you need to pin down those who took it. Loaned a guy $1800 once. The night I gave him the money my wife told me I'd never seee it again. Two weeks later he was due to pay it back. Three weeks he was over due and I had not seen or heard from him. I called his work phone, it was out of service. Every place I went I left word I was lookin to find this guy. Took a week to track down where he lived. Couldn't find him home. He lived 40 minutes from me. Kept calling his landlord. I found a number for his cousin. I kept leaving messages with landlord and cousin for that dude to get hold of me. I told them he owed me money. Called neare on every day. Went up and sat on his doorstep nights. Ran across him several times. He'd tell me he'd pay this day or that and not show. Kept callin and sittin. Sometimes real late at night if his car was there but nobody answered the door I'd sit for a while with my headlights on his car and the motor runnin. Ran across him at his apartment again and things got a little hot. He didn't have the money. He arranged a meet and failed to show again. Week six, I called the landlord from work. Got a lead he was at a horsetrack. Left work early and went to the track. Parked next to his vehicle. Went in lookin for him. He must a seen me and split. A week later he called and met me with the money. I think it rattled him some I was able to find him at that track. If I had not dogged him like I did for two months I know I never would have gotten that money back. I never lend money no more.
