I used 2 1/2 gallons. 2 gallons should do it but I sprayed the 3rd coat a little heavier than normal. I waited an average of about 3 hours for every coat, seemed to dry quicker and gave better overall coverage with no running or weak spots. This was in about an average temp of 75dg. I wouldn't spray one big fat coat on either, my buddy did this to his H using the same paint and prep job I did, he also used the same hardner. His was a duplicate of mine, but his took alot longer to dry, stayed tacky for a couple of days and had a heavy look to the overall finish. Also when he started bolting parts on, the paint never fully dried on the metal and it started chipping and peeling. And was it thick UGH!. I didn't have any of those problems. Heres a funny thing that happend. I have 2 dogs, a very large Shephard and a large Dobe. During the summer they like to lay under the tractor as it gave them shade, the tractor was outside for the start of my paint job. I had painted the under side and went inside to let it dry some, my wife let the dogs out and they both had red streaks across there backs and heads, plus my tractors under side{axle housing} looked like it was growing hair in a big way ;0) Had to re-prep that belly again ;0( My dogs had a very unique look to them for awhile. Moral of the story, dont let your dogs near that fresh paint job ;0) Brian
