i have several of these units. most of them were made by a&w, but m&w and tractor supply also sold these gear reduction units. these were designed to help start tractors that had higher compression pistons installed but the best thing that they are good for is breaking the spring on the bendix drive. if you look close you should be able to find a name cast on the housing.
